Technology People

History

Connected to our Swabian homeland, open to the world and at home on all continents

Our roots reach back to the 1970s. Since then we have been developing and producing highly efficient machine tools. In 1989 we brought the Tetra-Mill to market, the first four-spindle machining center, thereby enabling our customers to make quantum leaps in productivity. Since 1995 our sales have increased ten fold and we continue to invest in the growth of the SW Group: In 2015 we acquired the former bartsch GmbH, a specialist in the development and implementation of automated manufacturing systems, integrating it as the new SW Automation GmbH division.

Thus we now offer complete production solutions from a single source. In 2016 the plant in Souzhou, China commenced operation. At company headquarters in Waldmössingen in the Black Forest, our employees moved into a new administrative building in 2017. In Mexico we founded our own subsidiary a few months ago and in the USA we are currently constructing another plant.

Waldmössingen / a place rich in tradition

In addition to the assembly of highly productive machine tools, SW concentrates here on research and development with our own technology center.

SW's heart beats in Waldmössingen in the Black Forest. Here we develop our machines, which we produce in this plant and also in Michigan, USA, and Souzhou, China. SW Automation in Tettnang on Lake Constance in Southern Germany covers automation of complete production lines with robots and including the flow of information.

We are represented by more than twenty branch offices and sales partners in Europe, Asia and North and South America. The know-how and service of our Technology People are always right in your neighborhood.

The whole is more than the sum of its parts

We think in holistic systems and processes.

Learning, applying knowledge, gaining experience and learning new things: Technology People are never satisfied with what has already been achieved and they know that the state of the art is constantly changing.

We claim to be up front in the midst of that change. For our customers to succeed is our passion, because that is the only way for us to be successful.

Some facts at a glance

Two thirds of our customers are Tier1 and Tier2 suppliers of the automotive industry with an emphasis in powertrain. The spectrum of manufactured components ranges from steering knuckles through impellers and transmission covers to cylinder heads. In other industries our users manufacture components for mechanical engineering and contact-sensitive light metal surfaces.

With sales revenue of about 300 million euros, SW is also a strong partner for major projects and turn-key manufacturing lines from a single source.

Currently more than 700 Technology People are working on a successful future for SW.
