Our roots reach back to the 1970s. Since then we have been developing and producing highly efficient machine tools. In 1989 we brought the Tetra-Mill to market, the first four-spindle machining center, thereby enabling our customers to make quantum leaps in productivity. Since 1995 our sales have increased ten fold and we continue to invest in the growth of the SW Group: In 2015 we acquired the former bartsch GmbH, a specialist in the development and implementation of automated manufacturing systems, integrating it as the new SW Automation GmbH division.
Thus we now offer complete production solutions from a single source. In 2016 the plant in Souzhou, China commenced operation. At company headquarters in Waldmössingen in the Black Forest, our employees moved into a new administrative building in 2017. In Mexico we founded our own subsidiary a few months ago and in the USA we are currently constructing another plant.
Waldmössingen / a place rich in tradition
In addition to the assembly of highly productive machine tools, SW concentrates here on research and development with our own technology center.
SW's heart beats in Waldmössingen in the Black Forest. Here we develop our machines, which we produce in this plant and also in Michigan, USA, and Souzhou, China. SW Automation in Tettnang on Lake Constance in Southern Germany covers automation of complete production lines with robots and including the flow of information.
Two thirds of our customers are Tier1 and Tier2 suppliers of the automotive industry with an emphasis in powertrain. The spectrum of manufactured components ranges from steering knuckles through impellers and transmission covers to cylinder heads. In other industries our users manufacture components for mechanical engineering and contact-sensitive light metal surfaces.
