Bigger, stronger, faster and more energy-efficient. These were the major specifications for the development of the 7 series. Bigger in terms of the spindle distance and the working area. Stronger in terms of the spindles and the rotary tables. Faster in terms of the higher acceleration values for all axes and the higher traverse speeds. More energy-efficient because the moving mass is 2,000 kg lighter than previous designs. It was only possible to achieve all of this with the monobloc design and the box-in-box three-axis unit. Another key feature is that the fixtures from the 600 series with 600 and 300 mm spacings can also be used on this machine.
We have created two solutions for this: The first solution uses a twin-spindle block-type ram and 700 mm spindle distance. The second, more elegant solution, allows for variable spindle spacing. The spindle distance can be freely programmed between 600 and 700 mm with the CNC program. This means that you could, for example, place workpieces with spacing of 300 or 600 mm on one pallet side, and with a spacing of 350 to 700 mm, or some value in-between, on the other. From 2013 onwards, we have also offered variants with three or four spindles. These features make the BA 7 series ideal for medium to large-scale production of large and complex cast iron, cast steel and steel components.
